A former Niagara teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl in Toronto and police are asking anyone else with information to come forward.

Toronto police said they believe there may be more victims after they charged Jaskaransingh Ramburn, 68, with four sexual offenses.

Det. Brian Wookey said Ramburn taught in Niagara for the greater part of his career, mostly at high schools.
He is currently employed by the private Bnei Akiva Schools in Toronto as a French teacher.

On Monday, Toronto police charged Ramburn with sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and invitation to sexual touching.

It is alleged he sexually assaulted a girl between Nov. 26 and Dec. 3. Police would not reveal the girl's age, but said she did not go to his school.

Ramburn retired from teaching French for the District School Board of Niagara in 2001. At the time, he was posted at Niagara District Secondary School in Niagara-on-the-Lake and lived in St. Catharines with his wife and sons.

Ramburn was known in Niagara education circles for taking students on 10-day excursions to Europe to visit landmark sites, such as the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Nazi concentration camps.

Anyone with more information about Ramburn is asked to call Toronto police at 416-808-3200. Tips can also be sent anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS, online at www.222tips.com or by texting TOR and a message to CRIMES.
